On the 28th (local time), Varner III shot a 4-under 68 in the final 3rd round of the 7th LIV Golf tournament of the 2023 season (total prize money $25 million) held at Trump National Golf Club (par 72) in Sterling, Virginia, USA, to achieve a 1-stroke come-from-behind victory (12-under 204). Varner III earned $4 million (about 5.3 billion KRW) in prize money for the individual win, and also took home $125,000 (about 170 million KRW), which is 25% of the 3rd place team prize money.
Varner III has one win on the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour), and last February won the Asian Tour PIF Saudi International, sponsored by the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund. After joining LIV Golf, he secured his first victory in his 11th tournament.
Brandon Grace (South Africa) finished as runner-up (11-under 205). Mito Pereira (Chile), who was leading until the previous day, shot 1-under 71 and dropped to 3rd place (10-under 206). "The Hulk" Bryson DeChambeau (USA) placed 10th (6-under 210). Brooks Koepka (USA), last week’s major PGA Championship winner, finished 14th (5-under 211).
