The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education conducted training for IB internationally certified professional instructors to cultivate IB experts and establish a network.

IB stands for International Baccalaureate, an internationally certified curriculum for students aged 3 to 19. It is an education program overseen by an independent non-profit international organization established in 1968 through the cooperation of the Swiss International Schools Association and UNESCO, and is offered in English, French, Spanish, and other languages.

The Office of Education announced on the 29th that on the 27th of this month, it conducted training for 70 elementary and middle school teachers from the province at the Seoul Foreign School to strengthen the inquiry-action-reflection based teaching and assessment competencies of IB interested schools.

The teachers participating in this training were selected from a total of 192 applicants through evaluation of their understanding of the IB program and their plans for field implementation after the training. The training was divided into ▲face-to-face workshops ▲real-time online training ▲and periodic feedback from IB experts.

Jo Young-min, Director of Future Education at the Office of Education, said, "We could feel the teachers' passionate interest and enthusiasm for the IB program," adding, "We expect that by working as professional instructors, they will play a role in spreading classes and assessments that develop critical thinking and creativity, thereby enhancing students' future competencies."
