Female Officer "Took Leave After Participating in Physical Test to Attend Hearing"
Police to Investigate Defamation and Related Issues Later
Amid controversy over a female police officer attending a live radio audience without taking the physical fitness test, it has been confirmed that the officer took a day off on the day of the audience.
According to a comprehensive report by Asia Economy on the 28th, Officer A, affiliated with Gwacheon Police Station, participated normally in the physical fitness test held on the 24th, then took annual leave on the 25th to attend a pre-recording of the Cultwo Show. It is known that Officer A exaggerated the leave as sick leave for entertainment during the broadcast.
A Police Agency official stated, "It was confirmed that the female officer made such remarks on her own judgment for the sake of entertainment on the broadcast," adding, "However, the issue of damaging the dignity of public officials will be reviewed later by the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency." Earlier, the Police Agency immediately began fact-finding as criticism against the police organization intensified. Article 63 of the National Public Officials Act stipulates that public officials shall be disciplined if they engage in conduct that damages their dignity.
This controversy arose after a post titled "The person who attended the terrifying Cultwo Show audience" was uploaded on the online community FM Korea. The post shared an actual interview recording file from the "Escape at Two O'clock Cultwo Show" on May 26 and a post on the anonymous workplace app Blind, presumed to be written by a police officer.
According to the post, on the 26th, a female police officer submitted a medical certificate and did not participate in the physical fitness test, then attended the live radio audience of the Escape at Two O'clock Cultwo Show. The Blind post has since been deleted.
The host introduced a female police officer, saying, "Someone submitted a medical certificate today at the company’s physical fitness test and came to the audience." When asked, "What kind of company has a physical fitness test?" the female officer replied, "Police officer."
Then the host asked, "Is it okay for a police officer to lie, submit a fake medical certificate, and come here?" The officer laughed heartily and said, "I am a little sick."
Relatedly, a post titled "Is it true that a female police officer took sick leave yesterday and attended the Cultwo Show audience?" was uploaded on Blind.
The post, presumed to be written by a police officer, stated, "I was shocked listening to the radio live," and added, "The class of proudly revealing on a radio broadcast listened to by the entire nation that she is a police officer, then submitting a medical certificate and bragging about coming to watch the Cultwo Show."
Comments poured in with criticism such as, "Not only did she get a fake medical certificate to be exempted from the physical fitness test, but she also took sick leave and attended the audience, this needs to be investigated," and "This crossed the line."
