7 Environmental Measurement Agencies in the Air Quality Sector in Ulsan Area
The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute will conduct a 'Proficiency Test for Stack Sampling in the Air Quality Sector' for seven local air quality measurement agencies from May 30 to June 2.
The 'Proficiency Test for Stack Sampling' is a legally mandated annual evaluation conducted jointly by the National Institute of Environmental Research and the health and environment research institutes of each city and province. It aims to assess and verify the measurement capabilities of agencies that perform pollution level measurements at air pollutant emission facilities.
The evaluation method comprehensively assesses eight items: preparation, sampling device configuration, leak check test, sampling process, sampling proficiency, and result calculation. Based on a total score of 100 points, a score of 80 or above is judged as 'pass,' while below 80 is judged as 'fail.'
If the result is a fail, a re-evaluation is conducted. If the agency fails again in the re-evaluation, a business suspension of six months will be imposed.
An official from the Health and Environment Research Institute stated, "We plan to conduct the evaluation strictly to improve the measurement capabilities of the agencies and verify the accuracy of test and inspection results," adding, "We will focus on enhancing the expertise of the agencies through education and technical support for any insufficient areas."
In last year's proficiency test for air quality measurement agencies in the Ulsan area, six agencies participated and all received a 'pass' judgment.
