Kim is accused of stabbing his ex-partner A (47) multiple times with a weapon in the underground parking lot of a commercial building in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, at around 7:17 a.m. on the 26th, causing her death. One hour before the crime, Kim was investigated at a nearby police substation following a dating violence report filed by A and then returned home.

At around 6:11 a.m., after finishing the investigation, Kim told the police he was going to his registered residence in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, but he did not go there. Instead, Kim went to the underground parking lot of a PC bang building that the two frequently visited. Upon seeing A’s vehicle there, he reportedly brought a weapon from A’s house and waited for her in the parking lot.

It is understood that at around 7:07 a.m., when A left the police station and arrived at the parking lot, Kim attacked her with the weapon. Afterward, Kim put the unconscious A into a vehicle he had rented and fled. He was urgently arrested by the police in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, at around 3:30 p.m., about eight hours after the crime.

The police initially charged Kim with murder but changed the charge to retaliatory murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes after Kim stated during the investigation that he committed the crime out of anger because A reported him. The police plan to conduct an autopsy on A’s body on the 30th to determine the exact cause and time of death.
