Special Exhibition 'Protect the Treasures of Ulsan!'
Themed Exhibition 'Ulsan Industry Becomes a Festival'
Two special exhibitions showcasing ancient treasures and traces of modern times open simultaneously at Ulsan Museum. On the 31st, the special exhibition "Protect Ulsan's Treasures!" and the themed exhibition "Ulsan Industry Becomes a Festival" will be held.
"Protect Ulsan's Treasures!" is a hands-on exhibition for children and families focusing on nine nationally designated cultural treasures of Ulsan. It will be held in the Museum's 1st floor Special Exhibition Hall I until October 1.
The themed exhibition "Ulsan Industry Becomes a Festival" commemorates the revival of the 2023 Ulsan Industrial Festival and explores the festival's origins and significance. It will be open in the Museum's 1st floor lobby until July 2.
"Protect Ulsan's Treasures!" is organized into three parts telling the stories of nine treasures of Ulsan: ▲Part 1 "Hello, Treasures?", ▲Part 2 "Let's Play with Treasures", and ▲Part 3 "Our Treasures Are Special".
Part 1, "Hello, Treasures?" introduces the treasures. Visitors can unfold a treasure map to find treasures and discover glowing treasures in a dark space.
Part 2, "Let's Play with Treasures" is an interactive area where the unique characteristics of each treasure are turned into playful experiences.
Part 3, "Our Treasures Are Special" allows visitors to directly appreciate treasures held by Ulsan Museum. Children and family visitors can also draw their own treasured items in their hearts and display them on a large screen.
Since "Protect Ulsan's Treasures!" is a hands-on exhibition aimed at children and families, it will be closed from 1 PM to 2 PM for exhibition maintenance.
"Ulsan Industry Becomes a Festival" is composed of ▲Introduction "Ulsan, an Industrial City of Korea", ▲Part 1 "Starting the Festival", ▲Part 2 "Enjoying the Festival", and ▲Conclusion "A Place of Harmony, the Revival of Ulsan Industrial Festival".
After exploring Ulsan's growth as a representative industrial city of Korea since its designation as a planned industrial city in 1962, Part 1 "Starting the Festival" reflects on the significance of the first Ulsan Industrial Festival.
Part 2 "Enjoying the Festival" showcases the attractions and highlights of the Ulsan Industrial Festival held 20 times through photos, videos, and artifacts.
To promote the 2023 revival of the Ulsan Industrial Festival, a photo zone featuring a model of the most memorable parade from citizens' memories has been set up for visitors.
An official from Ulsan Museum said, "By holding two special exhibitions simultaneously, we wanted citizens to feel like they received a special gift through viewing and experiencing the exhibitions," adding, "We hope adults recall joyful festival memories and children develop a precious appreciation for cultural heritage."
