Nikishida: "Wants High-Level Talks with North Korea to Achieve Summit with Kim Jong-un"

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida expressed his desire to hold high-level talks with North Korea to realize an early North Korea-Japan summit with North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un, Kyodo News reported on the 27th.


According to Kyodo News, Prime Minister Kishida made these remarks at a national rally held in Tokyo urging the return of Japanese abductees.

Prime Minister Kishida reiterated his willingness to meet Chairman Kim unconditionally to resolve the issue of Japanese abductees.


He described the ongoing situation, where the return of Japanese victims abducted by North Korea has not been realized since the 2002 North Korea-Japan summit, as "the height of anguish," adding, "The government takes this matter very seriously."
