Yeongyang-gun, Step-by-Step Dementia Patient Care Family Program Operation

The Dementia Safety Center in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, will pilot an 8-session course titled ‘Step-by-Step Family Program for Dementia Patient Care’ for families of dementia patients until June 29.

The pilot operation of the ‘Step-by-Step Family Program for Dementia Patient Care’ aims to verify the program’s effectiveness and make modifications and improvements to disseminate and expand a standardized program that can be operated for families of dementia patients at the Dementia Safety Center.


Additionally, each session is designed to strengthen various caregiving competencies according to the stages of dementia, including symptom management, daily life management, behavioral and psychological symptom management, safety management, and communication management. The program participants consist of four family members of dementia patients who participate in the ‘Step-by-Step Family Program for Dementia Patient Care’ (experimental group) and four family members who do not participate (control group).


County Governor Oh Do-chang stated, “We plan to actively support reducing the caregiving burden on dementia families and enabling dementia patients and their families to stay together in the community for a long time.”


Starting in July, healing programs for dementia families, as well as forest and agricultural therapy programs, are scheduled to be operated. For more details, please contact the Dementia Family Support Team at the Yeongyang-gun Dementia Safety Center.
