Seoul Gangseo-gu 'District Development Ideas' Contest

Gangseo-gu, Seoul, has launched a search for brilliant ideas that will improve the quality of life for its residents.


The district announced that it will hold the "2023 First Half District Administration Development Idea Contest" until June 16.


This is to encourage active participation and communication from residents regarding district administration and to actively reflect residents' creative ideas in policies.


The contest covers a wide range of ideas for district development in welfare, culture, economy, environment, safety, and more, divided into designated topics and open topics.


The designated topics are ▲Overcoming low birthrate and aging population ▲Enhancing safety and care for single-person households ▲Ideas for achieving carbon neutrality ▲Measures to prevent jeonse fraud and support victims ▲Improvement of services for socially vulnerable groups, totaling five topics.


The open topics include ▲Opinions on improving administrative systems, administrative services, and administrative operations ▲Various matters related to improving district development such as enhancing residents' living and convenience ▲Ways to increase district revenue and reduce budget, new projects, etc., allowing free proposal of ideas fitting each topic.


The contest is open to anyone interested in Gangseo-gu's district administration and can be submitted via the "Gangseo-gu Office website - Communication and Participation - Suggestions/Praise - Resident Suggestions" or the "People's Newspaper website - People's Suggestions - Contest Proposals."


Additionally, proposals and consent forms for the collection, use, and provision of personal information available on the district website can be submitted by mail, visit, or fax.


After departmental review and practical screening, eight ideas will be selected through resident voting and the Proposal Review Committee's final evaluation by July, with individual notifications.


Selected proposers will receive prize money according to award levels: Grand Prize 1 person 1,000,000 KRW, Excellence Award 1 person 700,000 KRW, Merit Award 2 persons 500,000 KRW each, Encouragement Award 4 persons 200,000 KRW each.


A district official said, "This contest was prepared to discover policies and projects that will practically help the district's development from the residents' perspective," and added, "We ask for much interest and participation in the district development idea contest that will make Gangseo-gu shine even brighter."
