‘Super Rookie’ Bang Sin-sil "4-Under Par Excitement"

‘Super Rookie’ Bang Sin-sil is on the march to victory.


On the 26th, Bang Sin-sil shot a 4-under-par 68 in the first round of the KLPGA Tour E1 Charity Open (total prize money 900 million won) held at Seongmunan Country Club in Wonju, Gangwon Province (par 72, 6602 yards), taking a share of the lead. Ji Han-sol and Kim Min-seon7 also joined this group.

Bang Sin-sil is a rookie who has played in four regular tour events this season and has competed twice in the champion group. She finished 4th in last month’s major KLPGA Championship and 3rd in the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship earlier this month, contending for the title. Although she has yet to claim her first victory, she has emerged as a ‘rising force’ on the tour with a long drive averaging 264.6 yards.


‘LPGA member’ Yoo So-yeon and Park Ji-young, who ranks first in both prize money and points, along with Lee Se-hee, shot 3-under-par 69, tied for 4th place. Choi Hye-jin is tied for 12th at 2-under-par 70. Defending champion Jung Yoon-ji is tied for 48th at 1-over-par 73. Lee Ye-won, winner of the Lotte Rent-a-Car Women’s Open, is tied for 73rd at 2-over-par 74.
