On the 26th, the Ansan Sangnok Police Station in Gyeonggi Province applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of murdering his girlfriend and fleeing the scene.
A is accused of killing his girlfriend, B, at a motel located in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, around 7:40 PM the previous day.
After the crime, he took B's mobile phone and fled. At around 9:55 PM the same day, he called 119 himself, saying, "I fought with my friend, and it seems she is not breathing."
A was arrested by police who responded to the fire department's report on the roadside in Gwacheon City around midnight. He stated that he committed the crime after arguing while drinking with his girlfriend.
A, who reportedly has no particular occupation, had been dating B for about 5 to 6 months. It has not yet been confirmed whether there were any reports of dating violence related to them.
The police plan to have B's body autopsied at the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.
The police will continue further investigation once the decision on A's detention is made.
