On the same day, Samsung Biologics signed a "Safety Culture Practice Promotion Agreement" with the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor at its headquarters in Songdo, Incheon. The signing ceremony was attended by Min Gilsu, head of the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office, and Noh Gyun, Vice President of Samsung Biologics (Chief Safety and Health Officer), among others.
This agreement was promoted as part of the "Serious Accident Reduction Roadmap" announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in November last year. Samsung Biologics and the Ministry of Employment and Labor agreed to jointly establish and implement an action plan to strengthen safety awareness and spread the safety culture.
Both parties plan to discover and disseminate excellent cases of industrial safety management implemented by Samsung Biologics to the pharmaceutical and bio industries. Additionally, they will jointly promote safety culture campaigns, including holding public-private joint campaigns. They also intend to jointly identify unnecessary regulations in the field of industrial safety and health and prepare improvement measures.
Furthermore, Samsung Biologics plans to propose ideas to the Employment and Labor Office to strengthen workplace safety and health execution capabilities while conducting safety culture campaigns targeting employees and partner companies. The Ministry of Employment and Labor will provide special on-site training to supervisors and employees of Samsung Biologics to raise safety awareness. Safety and health materials such as safety rule card books and hazard checklists that can be used in the field will also be produced and distributed.
Noh Gyun, Vice President of Samsung Biologics, said, "We will actively participate in public-private cooperation to spread the safety culture," adding, "We will seek and implement various measures to take the lead in safety management in the bio-pharmaceutical industry."
Meanwhile, prior to this agreement, Samsung Biologics signed a joint agreement for safety and health win-win cooperation with 22 partner companies on the 20th of last month. This agreement, promoted under the supervision of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, aims for large and small-to-medium enterprises to cooperate to improve workplace safety and health levels and prevent industrial accidents. Samsung Biologics will provide partner companies with opportunities to enhance capabilities necessary for industrial accident prevention, including ▲ conducting safety management evaluation and diagnostic consulting ▲ supporting education for training safety professionals ▲ providing necessary supplies for safety and health management.
