Turnkey Execution of Entire 300kV Ultra-High Voltage Power Grid Construction
"Europe, Japanese Companies Defeated... Expecting Additional Orders"
Taihan Electric Wire announced on the 25th that it has secured a project worth 65 million dollars (approximately 86 billion KRW) in Kuwait. The company emphasized the significance by stating, "We have reaffirmed our competitiveness in the Middle Eastern market."
Taihan Electric Wire revealed that it won a turnkey (design and construction lump-sum bid) project for an ultra-high voltage power grid commissioned by the Ministry of Electricity and Water & Renewable Energy (MEW) of Kuwait.

The project involves constructing an underground power grid between substations installed in Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait. The purpose of the project is to respond smoothly to the increasing power demand in Kuwait City. Taihan Electric Wire will comprehensively handle the supply of materials such as 300kV-class ultra-high voltage cables and connectors, as well as the design, laying, connection, and testing of the power grid.
Taihan Electric Wire explained that Kuwait is the country with the most stringent bidding conditions in the Middle East. Only a few companies from Europe, Japan, and other regions qualify to bid for 300-400kV-class ultra-high voltage power grids.
Taihan Electric Wire won the competition based on the technical expertise accumulated by completing several ultra-high voltage turnkey projects commissioned by the Kuwait Electricity Authority. A Taihan Electric Wire official said, "We continue to secure orders based on the solid network and competitiveness we have built by supplying cables in the Middle Eastern market for over 50 years."

Earlier this year, Taihan Electric Wire began constructing 'Taihan Kuwait,' the first optical cable manufacturing corporation in Kuwait. The goal is to complete the factory within this year and start generating sales.
A Taihan Electric Wire official stated, "As Kuwait is promoting the 'New Kuwait Vision 2035' policy, power grid demand is expected to increase. We anticipate securing a competitive edge in other bids based on this recent order."
