Gyeongnam Police Agency Meets Aspiring Pilots and Mechanics of Chamsuri Helicopter

Career and Job Experience and School Violence Prevention Education

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Chamsuri helicopter and police drones flew over Hansando and Saryangdo in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam on the 24th.

This is because, following last year's Yokjido, this year as well, career and job experience programs for elementary and middle school students, as well as school violence prevention education, were conducted using the domestically produced Chamsuri helicopter (KUH-1P) and police drones.

According to the Provincial Police Agency, about 100 participants from kindergartens, elementary, and middle schools in Hansando and Saryangdo took part in this experience and education program.

The police also conducted joint practical training to swiftly and efficiently deploy police helicopters and drones in case of emergencies in island village security situations.

Before the experience and education sessions, a ceremony for the delivery of sports equipment to commemorate the event was held between Bae Do-han, Customer Support Team Leader of Korea Aerospace Industries Co., Ltd. (KAI), a manufacturer of fighter jets and helicopters, and the Director of the Tongyeong Office of Education.

Following this, the Provincial Police Agency's aviation team divided the students into three groups to assemble police model helicopters and study the structure, form, and flight principles of helicopters together.

The students also sat in actual helicopter cockpits to operate them directly, witnessed demonstrations of state-of-the-art police drone flights, and played drone soccer, a futuristic sport.

They asked questions about aviation-related careers, such as the process of becoming a helicopter pilot and mechanic.

The Provincial Police Agency also conducted accident prevention education regarding the recent increase in school violence and sexual violence.

Park Chang-rae, head of the Provincial Police Agency's aviation team, said, “I hope that through this police helicopter and police drone experience, students gained an understanding of careers in the aviation field and found an opportunity to discover a career path suited to their characteristics and aptitudes.” He added, “We will continue to hold meaningful events like today annually in Yokjido, Hansando, and Saryangdo.”
