Park Ji-won’s Home Raided... "Only One Mobile Phone Seized"

Former National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Park Ji-won, who was subject to a search and seizure at his residence on suspicion of hiring irregularities during his tenure, stated that he "will sincerely cooperate with the police investigation."

On the 24th, Park Ji-won posted on his social media, "I was subjected to a search and seizure by the police for 30 minutes starting at 7 a.m. First, I would like to express my respect for the police's courteous public service."

He said, "(The allegation) has been reported as hiring two aides as research fellows at an affiliated research institute," adding, "The seized item was one mobile phone, and there were no other items or documents." He also mentioned that he recently opened a new phone line in relation to this.

The NIS recently conducted an internal audit of personnel affairs during the Moon Jae-in administration and requested a police investigation, stating that former Director Park Ji-won abused his discretion and improperly intervened in employee recruitment. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit searched Park Ji-won's residence that morning and secured records related to his duties during his tenure.
