Boseong-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution for Disaster Management Evaluation for 5 Consecutive Years

Award for Excellence in Disaster Management Evaluation, Securing Special Grants

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 23rd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘Disaster Management Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for five consecutive years.

The ‘2023 Disaster Management Evaluation’ was conducted targeting 338 disaster management responsible institutions nationwide (243 local governments, 29 central administrative agencies, and 66 public institutions).

Since 2018, during the 7th local government term, Boseong-gun has been selected as an excellent institution in the disaster management evaluation, achieving the remarkable feat of being the only one in Jeollanam-do to be recognized as an excellent institution for five consecutive years.

As a special benefit for being selected as an excellent institution, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety awards a commendation and provides special grants to establish a proactive disaster preparedness posture.

Boseong-gun received high evaluations in areas such as ▲leadership of the head of the institution, ▲operation of disaster management organization and personnel, ▲investment in disaster safety finances, ▲safety education and publicity, ▲strengthening safety management for vulnerable groups, ▲disaster preparedness inspections, ▲recovery project management capabilities, and ▲facility crisis management performance.

Kim Cheol-woo, the governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Being selected as an excellent institution in disaster management evaluation for five consecutive years is an achievement made possible by the united efforts of employees and residents who prioritized securing regional safety from various disasters.” He added, “We will always carry out on-the-ground administration that actively works for the safety and happy daily lives of our residents.”

Meanwhile, the disaster management evaluation has been conducted annually since 2005 by the Minister of the Interior and Safety to diagnose the disaster management capabilities of responsible institutions in accordance with the 「Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety」.

Boseong-gun also achieved excellent results in disaster and safety evaluations such as the disaster management evaluation, Safety Korea training evaluation, disaster prevention project evaluation, and safety culture movement evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Jeollanam-do in 2022, thereby enhancing the trust of local residents in safety administration.
