The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 24th that there were 22,961 new confirmed COVID-19 cases (cumulative total of 31,592,429).


The number of new cases increased by 1,576 compared to the previous day (21,385). Compared to a week ago on the 17th (26,133), it decreased by 3,172.


Among the new confirmed cases, 40 were imported from overseas.


The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 167, an increase of 3 from the previous day.


The number of new COVID-19 deaths was 17, bringing the cumulative total to 34,719 (fatality rate 0.11%).


Meanwhile, starting next month, when the COVID-19 crisis alert level is lowered from 'Severe' to 'Caution,' the mandatory 7-day isolation for confirmed cases will change to a recommended 5-day isolation. COVID-19 statistics, which were announced excluding Sundays and public holidays, will be changed to weekly announcements.
