Ulsan City Predicts Traffic Congestion for National Youth Sports Festival... Partial Vehicle Restrictions, Requests Citizen Cooperation

Holiday Overlaps with Rose Festival and Pro Soccer Events Galore

Triathlon on 27-28th Causes Vehicle Restrictions on Gangnam-ro

Ulsan City will restrict vehicle access on certain sections during the National Youth Sports Festival.

Ulsan City requested citizens' cooperation as traffic congestion is expected near the venues due to the ‘52nd National Youth Sports Festival’ held throughout Ulsan from the 27th to the 30th.

With the 29th designated as a substitute holiday, three out of the four days of the event are holidays, so traffic congestion is predicted to be worse than usual weekends.

On May 27th and 28th, vehicle restrictions will be in place due to the triathlon. The events will take place on the 27th and 28th from 8 a.m. around Sipridaebatgyo Bridge area in Nam-gu and Gangnam-ro, covering swimming, cycling, and running courses.

On the 27th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and on the 28th, from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., traffic will be restricted on Gangnam-ro from the lower road of Taehwa Bridge to Samsin Samgeori (Save Zone), the competition section.

At the Munsu Sports Park venues, seven sports including swimming will be held simultaneously.

These include Munsu Roller Stadium (roller sports), Munsu Gymnasium (badminton), Munsu Bowling Alley (bowling), Munsu Swimming Pool (swimming), Munsu Baseball Stadium (baseball and softball), Munsu International Archery Range, and Munsu Auxiliary Field (soccer).

On the 28th at 7 p.m., a professional soccer match between Ulsan Hyundai and Daejeon Hana Citizen will take place at Munsu Soccer Stadium, and the nearby Ulsan Grand Park will host a Rose Festival until the 28th, causing severe traffic jams and parking difficulties.

Sports such as kendo and volleyball will also be held at nine elementary, middle, and high school gymnasiums in Ulsan.

These include Jungang High School (kendo), Jungang Girls' High School (volleyball), Seonggwang Girls' High School (volleyball), Jeil High School (volleyball), Nambu Elementary School (volleyball), Shinil Middle School (handball), Sinjeong High School (handball), Sports Science Middle and High School (modern pentathlon), and Ulsan Technical High School (boxing).

Seobu Stadium and four other soccer stadiums, as well as Jeonha Sports Center in Jeonha-dong, Hwajeong-dong, and Seobu-dong where table tennis matches will be held, are expected to be congested as athletes, parents, and spectators gather.

Since May 21, when the preliminary matches of the National Youth Sports Festival began, Ulsan City has converted the National Sports Festival Planning Office into a ‘Comprehensive Situation Room’ and operates it, while setting up ‘sector-specific situation rooms’ for traffic, environment, and other areas at the event operation office (3rd floor of UCC) to receive and handle various inconveniences and suggestions.

The 52nd National Youth Sports Festival started with preliminary taekwondo matches on the 21st and will run until the 30th, with a total of 18,429 participants including athletes and officials competing in 36 sports across 48 venues.
