On the 22nd, the Masan Fire Station in Changwon, Gyeongnam, conducted an electric vehicle fire response training by introducing new equipment to prepare for the increasing demand and occurrence of electric vehicle fires.
The newly introduced equipment to more efficiently extinguish electric vehicle fires includes the "Portable Immersion Tank for Electric Vehicle Fire Suppression" and the "Nozzle for Electric Vehicle Fire Suppression (Upward Water Spray Monitor)."
Masan Fire Station conducted an electric vehicle fire response training on the 22nd after introducing new equipment.
The "Portable Immersion Tank for Electric Vehicle Fire Suppression" is equipment installed around the vehicle during an electric vehicle fire, filled with water to cool the battery in a thermal runaway state and suppress the fire.
The "Nozzle for Electric Vehicle Fire Suppression (Upward Water Spray Monitor)" is equipment used to assist fire suppression by pushing water under the vehicle during thermal runaway fires in EVs or conventional vehicles, as well as fires in enclosed spaces.
The training included ▲theoretical education on the characteristics of electric vehicle fires ▲theoretical education on newly introduced electric vehicle equipment ▲simultaneous water spraying at the ignition point of the electric vehicle and equipment inspection.
Chief Lee Seon-jang stated, “Through the introduction of various equipment and training to prepare for electric vehicle fires, we will establish a rapid and efficient response system.”
