Realmeter "Yoon Approval Rating Rises 2.2%p to 39.0%"
Democratic Party Down 4.6%p, People Power Party Up 2.2%p
Support Gap Between Two Parties Narrows Within Margin of Error
Due to the rising approval ratings among the 2030 generation, President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his administration has increased for four consecutive weeks, approaching 40%. The Democratic Party of Korea, facing negative issues such as lawmaker Kim Nam-guk's coin investment allegations, showed a significant decline in support, narrowing the gap with the People Power Party to within the margin of error.
According to the regular public opinion poll released on the 22nd by polling agency Realmeter (conducted over five days from the 15th to the 19th nationwide among 2,504 adults aged 18 and over using an ARS automated response method commissioned by Media Tribune), President Yoon's approval rating rose by 2.2 percentage points from the previous week to 39.0%. The disapproval rating fell by 2.9 percentage points to 57.9%.
President Yoon's approval rating notably increased among those in their 20s (up 11.1 percentage points, from 27.9% to 39.0%), 30s (up 5.3 percentage points, from 32.1% to 37.4%), the Chungcheong region including Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (up 4.0 percentage points, from 35.7% to 39.7%), and Seoul (up 3.4 percentage points, from 36.1% to 39.5%).
President Yoon's approval rating has been on the rise since recording 32.6% in the third week of April. Looking at daily figures, it even surpassed 40% at one point during the week (40.5% on the 18th).
The Democratic Party's approval rating dropped by 4.6 percentage points from the previous week to 42.4%. The People Power Party rose by 2.2 percentage points to 38.5%, while the Justice Party remained steady at 3.2%. The gap between the Democratic Party and the People Power Party narrowed to 3.9%, bringing it within the margin of error for the first time in 10 weeks since the second week of March.
The Democratic Party saw significant declines in support among those in their 20s (down 12.9 percentage points, from 47.9% to 35.0%), 30s (down 8.5 percentage points, from 47.8% to 39.3%), the Chungcheong region including Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong (down 9.8 percentage points, from 53.8% to 44.0%), Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (down 6.3 percentage points, from 44.1% to 37.8%), Daegu and Gyeongbuk (down 5.9 percentage points, from 35.5% to 29.6%), and Incheon and Gyeonggi (down 4.6 percentage points, from 50.3% to 45.7%).
The People Power Party saw significant increases among those in their 20s (up 12.0 percentage points, from 30.4% to 42.4%), 30s (up 6.8 percentage points, from 30.1% to 36.9%), and Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (up 5.1 percentage points, from 40.9% to 46.0%).
