IU Waves to Camera, Wrist Grabbed
After Netizens' Criticism, Eventually Apologizes on SNS
Taiwanese influencer Molly apologized for grabbing the wrist of singer and actress IU at a fashion show.
Molly Chiang, a Taiwanese influencer with about 860,000 followers, wrote on her social media on the 19th, "I want to apologize once again for this incident. I am truly sorry."
On the 16th, the '2024 Cruise Fashion Show' by the Italian luxury brand Gucci was held at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Jongno-gu, Seoul, attended by numerous domestic and international stars.
Molly, who was invited to the event, grabbed IU's wrist as IU passed by and greeted the cameras. When IU appeared startled, a bodyguard who was following stepped in, and Molly eventually released IU's wrist. A video capturing this moment was published by Vogue Taiwan, leading to criticism from IU's fans, prompting Molly to issue an apology.

Molly also stated that she sent an apology to IU's agency. "With the help of a friend who speaks Korean, I translated the apology letter to send to IU, and I sent both the Korean and English versions to her agency. My behavior was wrong. Since everyone has different personalities and cultures, I should have been more cautious, but I failed to do so," she bowed her head.
She added, "I am sorry to the fans who liked me, and I apologize once again for disappointing everyone. I will definitely correct this behavior. Through this incident, I will reflect on my actions and also review the content I post on social media."
Meanwhile, IU recently met audiences with the film 'Dream' and is currently filming the drama 'Poksak Soksassuda' with actor Park Bo-gum. The work portrays the lives of rebellious 'Aesun' (IU), born in 1950s Jeju, and the doting 'Gwansik' (Park Bo-gum) across four seasons, and is scheduled to be released on Netflix.
