Let's Heal by Growing Flowers and Plants Last year, participating in the horticulture class program

How about finding a change and vitality in life tired from studies by developing curiosity about nature and life through touching flowers and cultivating plants?

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) will operate the ‘2023 Youth Horticulture Class’ in June to satisfy the curiosity of youth and provide enjoyable time with peers.

The ‘Youth Horticulture Class’ is a program under the after-school education support project where youth create horticultural works using flowers and plants during weekends or vacations when they do not attend school.

Since 2013, the ‘Youth Horticulture Class’ using nature as a theme has received high praise from local residents as it helps youth learn respect for life, consideration for others, and a sense of accomplishment through completing their works.

This year, the program will run from June 3 to 25 on Saturdays and Sundays (except the third week), divided into a morning session (10:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and an afternoon session (1 PM to 3 PM).

Participants can create horticultural works at a practical training site in Haengun-dong (Violes Flower Cafe) with experts holding florist certification.

The program is open to local youth aged 10 to 13 (elementary school grades 3 to 6), and the participation fee is 5,000 KRW for materials. However, socially disadvantaged youth can participate free of charge.

Youth wishing to participate can apply through the Gwanak-gu Office website (Education → By Institution → 175 Education) by 6 PM on May 26, and those who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.

For more detailed information about the education, please contact the Education Support Division of Gwanak-gu Office.

An official from the district said, “We hope youth will have a healing time relieving stress by touching flowers and plants,” and added, “We will continue to develop and actively support various after-school education programs to provide opportunities for career exploration and self-development for youth dreaming of the future.”
