Shall We Enjoy Hongdae Street in the 2000s... Telecom 3 Companies Open 'V Coloring' Popup

The three mobile carriers (SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus) announced on the 19th that they have established experience zones at ‘T Factory’ and ‘KT Ad Shop Plus’ to allow customers to directly experience the ‘V Coloring’ service. They are conducting online and offline promotions that offer benefits to customers who visit the service experience zones or set V Coloring content.


V Coloring is a video call ringtone service jointly provided by the three mobile carriers, which shows a video preset by the customer to the caller’s (originator’s) mobile phone until the call is connected to the recipient.

This promotion, named ‘Back to the 2002!’, signifies the evolution from ‘Coloring (call ringtone)’ launched in 2002 to V Coloring (video call ringtone), just as feature phones (basic phones) evolved into smartphones. It also implies that customers who have experience using mobile phones with Coloring can enjoy a new experience in the smartphone era through V Coloring.


While Coloring expressed oneself only through music, V Coloring allows for a more diverse expression of individuality by utilizing both music and video. Customers can set unlimited access to over 20,000 various short-form videos, including the latest music videos, celebrities, landscapes, and animations.


The offline event featuring various experiences spanning the 2000s and the present, along with generous on-site prize giveaways, is available for participation by visiting T Factory and KT Ad Shop Plus until June 11.


At T Factory, visitors can enjoy experiences such as taking selfies with 3G phones against the backdrop of Hongdae streets from the 2000s, listening to Coloring from that era, techno photo drinks, and various V Coloring experiences. In particular, a raffle event will be held for visitors to T Factory to win bromides autographed by the popular idol group ‘IVE’, who are the V Coloring models.


At KT Ad Shop, visitors can compare nostalgic Coloring on feature phones and current V Coloring on smartphones, and take photos in front of a giant smartphone-shaped glass window.


Additionally, visitors at T Factory and KT Ad Shop can participate in events such as a no-lose nostalgic snack lottery, mission prize events, and receive free V Coloring usage coupons. Customers who complete missions in the experience zones will also be entered into a raffle to win generous prizes such as a PlayStation 5, Geneva Classic speakers, and LG Room & TV.


Simultaneously with the offline experience zone events, an online content setting event will be held. From the 25th to June 22, all customers participating in the online event will receive a Starbucks coffee gifticon. Furthermore, through a raffle, additional generous prizes such as Samsung AirDresser, Marshall Stanmore speakers, and AirPods Pro will be provided. Yoon Jae-woong, head of SK Telecom’s Subscription CO, stated, “We have prepared various experience events so that customers visiting the experience zones can feel the nostalgia of the 2000 Coloring era and simultaneously enjoy the dazzling video V Coloring of today.”
