Local reports from Japan have revealed that ingredients produced in Fukushima will be used during the Group of Seven (G7) summit scheduled to take place in Hiroshima, Japan, from the 19th to the 21st.

According to Fukushima TV and other sources on the 17th, Masao Uchibori, Governor of Fukushima Prefecture, stated on the 15th, "(The G7 summit) is a valuable opportunity to deepen understanding of Fukushima Prefecture, which is on the path to recovery."

Governor Uchibori expressed hope that the G7 summit, through information dissemination by the Japanese government, will also enhance understanding of the contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (referred to by the Japanese government as treated water).

Local Fukushima media reported that the Japanese government plans to use Fukushima-produced ingredients in meals prepared for dignitaries from various countries and will provide Fukushima-produced sake and processed foods at the International Media Center, which serves as a base for foreign media coverage.

Previously, during the Tokyo Olympics held last year, the use of Fukushima-produced ingredients in the athletes' village restaurants sparked controversy.
