Gyeongnam National University Hosts 'Global Coding Campus Opening Ceremony' ... Fostering Digital Talent

Gyeongnam National University held the opening ceremony of the ‘Ulsan·Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform Global Coding Campus’ at 3 p.m. on the 17th in Hanmagwan.

The ‘Gyeongnam National University Global Coding Campus’ is equipped with specialized educational facilities necessary for coding education, including an open coding education center, mentor lounge, small conference studio, and open studio. Approximately 1 billion KRW was invested in the first and second floors of Hanmagwan.


Going forward, Gyeongnam National University plans to actively utilize the ‘Gyeongnam National University Global Coding Campus’ to pioneer digital future education and establish itself as a leading university in the ICT/software (SW) convergence industry within the region.


In particular, centered on the Ulsan·Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform Gyeongnam National University Smart Manufacturing ICT Project Group, administrative and financial support will continue to foster collaboration with Gyeongsangnam-do and local companies and nurture future talent.


The opening ceremony proceeded in the order of a project progress report by Yoo Nam-hyun, head of the USG Coding Open Meta Campus Center at Gyeongnam National University, followed by a welcome speech, congratulatory remarks from guests, ribbon cutting, an education infrastructure tour, and a meeting among participating officials.


Kim Jin-ho, head of the Smart Manufacturing ICT Project Group, stated, “The Global Coding Campus is one of the core projects of the USG Coding Open Meta Campus and will develop into a space leading Gyeongnam’s future as a joint research and education center where regional universities and local companies collaboratively cultivate software (SW) convergence innovation talent.”


Meanwhile, about 100 people attended the opening ceremony, including Park Jae-gyu, president of Gyeongnam National University; Ha Jeong-su, education officer of Gyeongsangnam-do; Jang Gwang-su, director of the Ulsan·Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform General Operation Center; Jang Ji-hwang, CEO of Megazone; Baek Jong-hyun, CEO of DSME Information Systems; as well as corporate and institutional officials, professors, and students.
