The Chevrolet Trailblazer, a compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) made by Korea GM, was the best-selling vehicle in its class in the United States last month.
According to data from the local market research firm J.D. Power, the Trailblazer sold 11,130 units in the U.S. last month, marking a 176% increase compared to the same period a year ago. It holds the top spot with approximately a 16.0% market share among all compact SUVs.
The Buick Encore GX, which shares the same platform as this vehicle, sold 5,429 units. This model holds a market share of 8.1%, ranking 4th. The two vehicles are essentially twin models, accounting for one out of every four compact SUVs sold in the U.S. last month. In domestic export statistics, both models are consolidated and counted as Trailblazers.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer was first exported overseas in November 2019. Along with the Encore GX, the cumulative export volume has reached 518,583 units. This vehicle is produced only at Korea GM’s plant among GM’s global factories.
According to the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association’s sales trends for last month, 22,694 units of the Trailblazer and Encore were exported, the highest among exported vehicles. They have held the number one spot for three consecutive months, including February, March, and last month.
The company’s most recently launched Trax crossover sold 13,646 units overseas. Its cumulative export volume reached 30,411 units in just three months. GM has set an annual production target of 500,000 units centered on the Trailblazer and Trax crossover.
