Cheongsong-gun Awakens Youth Spirit of Independence Movement... Operates '100-Year Empathy Camp'

Remembering Ancestors Who Preserved History

The Cheongsong-gun Youth Center in Gyeongbuk conducted the '100 Years of Empathy Camp' at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Independence Movement Memorial Hall from May 13 to 14, targeting about 25 middle and high school students.

Cheongsong-gun Awakens Youth Spirit of Independence Movement... Operates '100-Year Empathy Camp' Cheongsong-gun operates the "100 Years of Empathy Camp," which awakens the spirit of independence movement among local youth.

The 100 Years of Empathy program was organized in collaboration between the Cheongsong-gun Youth Center and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Independence Movement Memorial Hall to awaken the love for the country of the ancestors who protected Korea's 100-year history and to provide opportunities to explore independence movement sites, aiming to establish a correct historical awareness among youth.


The program will be conducted over a total of 12 sessions, supporting the acquisition of Korean history certificates through theoretical history education and planning visits to independence movement sites in Cheongsong, Daegu, Seoul, Ganghwa, and Paju.


The first session consisted of lectures on modern and contemporary Korean history and independence movement history at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Independence Movement Memorial Hall, an experience at the Shinheung Military Academy, and a tour of Naeap Village, providing a time to feel gratitude and respect for those who sacrificed and contributed to the country.


A youth participant in the program said, "I felt the passion and heart of our ancestors to protect the country," and shared, "Learning about the history of the independence movement made me realize that the way we live today is our way of continuing the independence movement."
