About 50 members of KMI's volunteer group, 'Kmirang Volunteer Corps,' were divided into two teams and spent 1 hour and 30 minutes collecting trash such as cigarette butts at designated locations around Cheonggyecheon.
Kim Soon-yi, Honorary Chairman of KMI, said, "It was a valuable time to reflect on the importance of environmental protection through voluntary participatory volunteer activities," and added, "As a health screening institution contributing to the promotion of public health, KMI will continue to actively engage in various social contribution activities that protect health and the environment."
KMI plans to conduct plogging volunteer activities nationwide at KMI health screening centers, starting with the foundation headquarters and the Gwanghwamun Screening Center.
KMI Korea Medical Institute, established in 1985 as a health screening institution, currently operates health screening centers in eight locations nationwide: three in Seoul (Gwanghwamun, Yeouido, Gangnam) and five regional centers (Suwon, Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, Jeju). In addition to activities for early detection and prevention of diseases and promotion of public health, it carries out various social contribution projects.
