The memorial altar was set up by the bereaved families on February 4th, one day before the 100th day since the tragedy. Although conflicts have arisen between Seoul City and the families over its removal, it has remained in place for over three months.
The 10·29 Itaewon Tragedy Bereaved Families Association and the Citizens' Countermeasure Committee are strongly demanding the enactment of the '10·29 Itaewon Tragedy Truth Investigation Special Act,' along with thorough investigation and punishment of those responsible. Since the 8th, they have been conducting a '200-hour intensive memorial action' around Yeouido to urge the enactment of the special law.
On the same day in the afternoon, participants bowed 159 times, matching the number of victims, followed by memorial prayer meetings from the four major religions and a 200-day memorial cultural festival.
