Busan City has secured a friendly soccer match between the national teams of South Korea and Peru.
Accordingly, the friendly match between the South Korean and Peruvian national teams will take place at 8 PM on June 16 at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.
This is the first time in four years that an A-match friendly has been held in Busan since the friendly match against Australia in June 2019.
The hosting of this A-match in Busan aims to provide Busan citizens with the opportunity to watch a high-level international game and, through this, to promote the enthusiasm of Busan citizens for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid and to publicize Busan as a candidate city for the event worldwide, reflecting the city's efforts.
For this hosting, the Korea Football Association and related local organizations cooperated closely and organically.
The city expects that not only soccer fans who have longed for an A-match but also the general public will show interest, as they will be able to see national team players active on the world stage, such as Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in, in Busan during this match.
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, “I am very pleased that a meaningful friendly match between national soccer teams will be held in Busan, a city of passion and vigor,” adding, “Busan is a sacred ground for soccer, known as the site of South Korea’s first victory against Poland in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, and I hope to hear the roar of 50,000 people shouting ‘Daehanminguk’ again.”
He continued, “Busan City will thoroughly prepare all necessary arrangements to ensure a great match at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium.”
