Ryu Ho-jeong Criticizes Ryu Ho-jeong and Park Won-soon Documentary Press Conference as "Group Lynching of Victims"

YTN Interview: "Issue Already Decided... Bringing It Up Again Is Secondary Harm"
Women's Groups Also Condemn "Shameless Defense of Sexual Harassment Perpetrators"

Ryu Ho-jeong, a Justice Party lawmaker, criticized the production presentation of the documentary 'First Defense,' which denies the sexual harassment case involving the late former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon, held on the 16th, saying, "They are simply carrying out a collective lynching against the victim with the thought that 'Our mayor would never do such a thing.'"

On the same day, Ryu appeared on YTN News Live and expressed concerns about secondary harm to the victim. She said, "Memorials and art are fine, but this film clearly contains secondary harm," adding, "There is a reality where the victim has already suffered secondary harm, and once the documentary is released, such threats will become even more severe."

Ryu stated, "First, the Seoul Central District Court ruled that 'it is true that the victim suffered considerable mental distress due to former Mayor Park's sexual harassment.' The National Human Rights Commission judged Park's sexual behavior as sexual objectification and sexual harassment of a subordinate employee. Third, the Seoul Administrative Court upheld the Human Rights Commission's decision," emphasizing, "Reopening a matter that has already been judged and conducting such a collective lynching is, in fact, disrespectful to the late former Mayor Park."

She continued, regarding the making of such a documentary, "While I understand the feelings of sending off someone you respected, considering Park Won-soon as a civic activist and human rights lawyer, I think such actions cannot be considered a proper memorial to him."

The production presentation of the documentary 'First Defense' about former Mayor Park was held that afternoon at Conference House Dalgaebi in Jung-gu, Seoul. Upon learning this news, women's groups strongly opposed it. The Korean Women's Associations United (KWAU) held a press conference that day, stating, "We sternly warn the forces that glorify repeated sexual harassment of subordinates by abusing the superior position of the Seoul mayor and trample on the dignity of the female victim," demanding the immediate suspension of the documentary screening plans.

KWAU further raised their voice, saying, "For what purpose are they trying to defend the sexual harassment perpetrator and cause pain to the female victim by distorting facts like this? Such a maliciously intended documentary must never be released to the public."
