Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) achieved a commendable result by ranking 6th overall at the 62nd Jeollanam-do Sports Festival, following last year's 5th place.

According to the county on the 16th, over 360 athletes participated in all 24 events at the 62nd Jeollanam-do Sports Festival held in Wando-gun from the 12th to the 15th.

The Shinan-gun team achieved excellent results in events such as archery (1st overall), swimming (2nd overall), soft tennis (5th overall), billiards (6th overall), and ssireum (Korean wrestling) (5th overall), earning a total score of 29,700 points and securing 6th place overall.

This achievement is significant given the challenging sports environment, including the difficult conditions of the island region and a relatively thin pool of athletes.

Despite the tournament regulations requiring preliminary matches against strong teams from leading counties based on last year's results, the athletes demonstrated relentless passion and determination in every event, leading to these victories.

Governor Park Woo-ryang expressed his gratitude, saying, “I thank the athletes and sports association officials who gave their best with passion and spirit despite the difficult conditions. I hope the enthusiasm shown in this competition will be fully demonstrated again at the 63rd Jeollanam-do Sports Festival to be held in Yeonggwang next year.”
