The ordinance proposal related to playgrounds by Im Seong-hwa, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, has passed the standing committee.
On the 16th, Councilor Im announced that the ordinance proposal he spearheaded, titled ‘Ordinance on the Creation and Operation of Resident-Participatory Children's Parks and Playgrounds,’ along with the amendment to the ‘Volunteer Activity Support Ordinance,’ has passed the standing committee review and is awaiting approval at the plenary session.
According to the ‘Playground Ordinance,’ the district mayor must actively encourage cooperation with experts and resident participation in the creation and operation of children's parks, and especially gather children's opinions to create better parks.
Additionally, consideration must be given to installing playground equipment for children with disabilities and providing rest areas for guardians, ensuring the safety and pleasant environment for children.
Through the amendment of the ‘Volunteer Ordinance,’ provisions for establishing base spaces for volunteers, as well as their treatment and rewards, are stipulated to promote volunteer activities and support volunteers to contribute more to the local community.
Councilor Im stated, “To solve various local issues, active participation and joint efforts of residents are necessary. We aim to encourage active volunteer participation by improving the volunteer environment and treatment. Furthermore, by inducing resident participation in the process of creating village spaces to enhance quality of life, we will continue in-depth legislative activities through resident-centered cultural revitalization tailored to residents' perspectives.”
