Seongnam City Invests 6.3 Billion KRW in Apartment Complex Facility Improvements

Seongnam City Invests 6.3 Billion KRW in Apartment Complex Facility Improvements Seongnam City Multi-family Housing Subsidy Support Project

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide 6.3 billion KRW to support the improvement of aging facilities in 75 apartment complexes. Both the number of supported complexes and the amount of support are the highest among local governments nationwide.

On the 16th, Seongnam City announced that it made this decision after reviewing documents, conducting on-site inspections, and holding deliberations by the Apartment Support Committee for 136 apartment complexes that applied for subsidy support.

Seongnam City will first use 1 billion KRW as natural disaster recovery support funds for 21 apartment complexes, including Pangyo Wonmaeul 13 Complex in Pangyo-dong, which suffered damage such as flooding in mechanical and electrical rooms due to heavy rain in August last year. Additionally, 3.4 billion KRW will be invested to replace 270 elevators in 17 complexes, including Ssuji-dong Sambu Apartments, which applied for the replacement of aging elevators. Seongnam City will continue to support elevator replacement costs to ensure the safety of apartment residents.

Furthermore, 640 million KRW will be used for repairing and painting exterior wall cracks in six complexes, including Cheongsolmaeul Hanra Apartments in Jeongja-dong, and 340 million KRW each will be used for road and parking lot repairs in three complexes, including Hansolmaeul Hanil Apartments in Jeongja-dong.

In addition, waterproofing work, CCTV installation, and replacement and maintenance of children's playgrounds will also be carried out for each supported complex.

A Seongnam City official explained, "Due to the heavy rain in August last year, the area was declared a special disaster zone, and through related ordinance amendments, natural disaster recovery costs are being supported for the affected complexes. In addition, with the revision of the Elevator Safety Management Act, replacement work for aging elevators in complexes over 24 years old after installation has increased, doubling the scale of the apartment support project compared to before."

Last year, Seongnam City also supported the improvement of 53 aging communal facilities in 48 apartment complexes, including Hyundai Apartments in Eunhaeng-dong, with 3.1 billion KRW through this project.
