Gyeonggi Fire Department Reports 87% Fire Equipment Coverage in Foreign Worker Dormitory Workplaces in the Province

Gyeonggi Fire Department Reports 87% Fire Equipment Coverage in Foreign Worker Dormitory Workplaces in the Province A firefighter from the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is visiting a foreign worker dormitory to provide training on how to operate fire alarms.

The installation rate of 'residential fire safety equipment' such as fire extinguishers in foreign worker dormitory workplaces in Gyeonggi Province has risen to 87%.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced on the 16th that out of 15,462 workplaces with foreign worker dormitories in the province, 13,438 places, accounting for 87% of the total, had residential fire safety equipment installed as of this month. As of January this year, the installation rate in these workplaces was 73.8% (11,413 places).

The increase in the installation rate over the past four months is due to the Fire and Disaster Headquarters providing free residential fire safety equipment such as fire extinguishers and smoke detectors to foreign worker dormitories.

This year, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters has distributed residential fire safety equipment free of charge to 478 foreign worker dormitories in the province. This exceeds the original installation target of 200 places by 240%.

The Fire and Disaster Headquarters plans to raise the installation rate of residential fire safety equipment in these workplaces to 100% by October.

Jeon Yong-ho, the Safety Officer of the Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "The early achievement of the installation rate was possible thanks to each workplace understanding the importance of fire safety and actively participating," adding, "We plan to further accelerate efforts to ensure that all foreign worker dormitories have residential fire safety equipment installed by October."
