The Cheongsong-gun Health and Medical Center in Gyeongbuk operates a visiting Korean medicine program for elderly people with chronic diseases in transportation-vulnerable areas from May 16 to July 11.
The Korean medicine program is conducted mainly at two senior centers in Jinbo-myeon Gwangdeok 1-ri and Bunam-myeon Hasok 1-ri. A Korean medicine doctor visits the senior centers in person to provide one-on-one health consultations and acupuncture treatments, offering personalized health management services, which have received high praise each time.
This "Visiting Korean Medicine Program" aims to revitalize face-to-face health services that were reduced due to the spread of COVID-19, strengthening the physical and emotional functions of the elderly and those with chronic diseases, and is expected to greatly assist in self-health management during old age.
The visiting health team at the Cheongsong-gun Health and Medical Center identifies health-vulnerable households such as elderly living alone and provides one-on-one visiting health services (management and consultation for hypertension and diabetes, nutritional meal provision, health education for cancer patients, etc.). They also operate visiting rehabilitation services and assistive device rental services (including wheelchairs, canes, and 8 other types) for elderly and disabled individuals with mobility difficulties.
Governor Yoon Kyung-hee stated, "Providing Korean medicine services to elderly people in transportation-vulnerable areas will have a positive effect on managing the health of elderly people with chronic and musculoskeletal diseases," and added, "We will continue to do our best to help the elderly maintain a vibrant life in their later years."
