LPGA Tour Participation Puts Global Level to the Test
NH Investment & Securities Starts Fresh with 2-Under Par on Day One
‘Korea's No. 1’ Park Min-ji is challenging the major tournaments on the U.S. Women’s Professional Golf (LPGA) Tour this year.
After finishing the first round of the NH Investment & Securities Ladies Championship (total prize money 800 million KRW) of the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour held on the 12th at Suwon Country Club New Course (par 72, 6,586 yards) in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, Park Min-ji said, "I plan to participate in the US Women’s Open and the Evian Championship." Last year, Park Min-ji qualified to participate in all major tournaments but only competed in the Evian Championship.

The reason Park Min-ji decided to go on two overseas trips this year is that it does not significantly overlap with her KLPGA Tour participation schedule. The Daewoo Winia·MBN Women’s Open, held in the same week as the US Women’s Open, is a tournament Park Min-ji won in 2020, but since she participated last year, she can skip it this year. There are no KLPGA Tour events during the Evian Championship period.
Park Min-ji is aiming for her third consecutive win and her first victory of the season in this tournament. She started smoothly with three birdies and one bogey, finishing 2-under-par 70. Park Min-ji said, "Maybe because I feel relaxed, my touch came up well here. I have good memories, so it’s a tournament I want to play well. I feel good," and added, "I don’t feel much pressure. I will try to play well in the remaining two days," showing her enthusiasm.
