Muan-gun, Recruiting Participants for National Cooking Competition

Applications Open Until the 30th of Next Month, 20 Teams Selected Through Document Screening

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) is recruiting participants for the ‘15th Hwangtogol Muan National Cooking Contest’ to be held during the Muan Lotus Festival in July until the 30th of next month.


According to the county on the 12th, this contest is a cabin meal cooking competition aimed at discovering creative and marketable dishes using Muan specialties to promote the status of the international airport and introduce Muan to the world, ahead of the establishment of Muan’s aviation-specialized industrial complex. The theme is ‘The Taste of Muan Connecting the World.’

Eligibility is open to any Korean citizen confident in cooking, and applicants can apply by filling out an application form including the recipe and submitting it in person, by mail, or by email.


After document screening, 20 teams will be selected to compete in the finals on July 22 on the main stage of the Lotus Festival venue.


In the awards, one grand prize team will receive the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Award, two teams will receive the Jeollanam-do Governor’s Award for excellence, and two teams for merit and 15 teams for encouragement will receive the Muan County Governor’s Award.


Governor Kim San stated, “Through this national cooking contest, we plan to promote the excellence of our local agricultural specialties and Muan International Airport as a Northeast Asia hub airport to the world, and to introduce the taste of Muan expanding globally to the international community in the era of food tourism.”
