Kim Han-gyu, a member of the Democratic Party and one of the members of the Democratic Party fact-finding team investigating the multi-billion won cryptocurrency allegations involving Kim Nam-guk, revealed that the fact-finding team has recruited external experts.
On the 12th, Kim said on SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' "It is difficult to specify exactly who they are, but we have managed to bring in experts with some difficulty."
The Democratic Party fact-finding team is led by Chief Secretary Kim Byung-gi and consists of economic experts such as lawmakers Lee Yong-woo and Hong Sung-guk, lawyer-turned-lawmaker Kim, and external experts. Kim Nam-guk had previously requested that the Democratic Party fact-finding team include external experts, stating that "distorted reports are continuing."
On the previous day, at the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, Deputy Chairman Jeong Seung-yoon of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission responded that "under current law, it is not a conflict of interest," leading to reported disagreements within the investigation team about whether to examine the conflict of interest issue. However, Kim said, "No, actually that has been somewhat exaggerated. While it is not a violation of current law, there were questions about whether we need to look that far into legal violations, but that is not the case. We plan to examine whether it can be considered a conflict of interest regardless of violations of current laws."
Reports estimating Kim Nam-guk's cryptocurrency accounts continue. Recently, reports have emerged that Kim Nam-guk ranks 6th among individual investors in WEMIX holdings and is a 'whale investor' holding more than Jang Hyun-guk, CEO of Wemade, which has intensified public suspicion. Kim said, "I understand the public's curiosity. If we examine the transaction details more closely and explain later, there may be parts that the public can accept. Whether that is appropriate or not is for the public to judge, but because detailed information such as investment items, transaction timing, and transaction scale has not been disclosed, various speculations seem to be arising."
