Daewoo E&C Supports TCFD... "Developing Eco-Friendly Technologies to Combat Climate Change"

TCFD is a consortium established in 2015 by the Financial Stability Board at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting. It recommends disclosing four key areas?governance, risk management, strategy, and metrics & targets related to climate change?through financial reports. As of the end of 2022, over 4,000 institutions and companies from 101 countries worldwide support TCFD.

Since publishing its Sustainability Management Report in 2012, Daewoo E&C has demonstrated a strong commitment to eco-friendly management and is preparing for the carbon-neutral era. Through joining TCFD, Daewoo E&C plans to disclose climate change-related information more systematically and transparently in line with global trends.

In particular, Daewoo E&C is making efforts to reduce carbon emissions by being the first in Korea to apply the Hybrid-PC construction method and developing eco-friendly concrete and cement that recycle industrial by-products such as fly ash and blast furnace slag powder, thereby reducing resource consumption. Furthermore, at the production and transportation stages, the company plans to expand the purchase and use of eco-friendly materials and equipment, and at the construction and usage stages, it will implement policies that favor environmentally excellent partners. Additionally, at the disposal stage, Daewoo E&C plans to maximize resource circulation by strictly adhering to waste management procedures and improving waste recycling rates.

A representative from Daewoo E&C’s Quality and Environment Team stated, “We will transparently disclose the company’s information on responding to climate change and strengthen measures such as developing eco-friendly technologies and setting greenhouse gas reduction targets in accordance with global standards.” They added, “We will continue to respond to stakeholders’ demands and strive for a sustainable future.”
