The Gwangju Buk-gu Council announced on the 11th that Councilor Gi Gidae-seo proposed the 'Partial Amendment to the Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu Tourism Promotion Ordinance' at the 286th extraordinary session.
Councilor Gi judged that active participation of residents is essential for tourism revitalization and newly added a provision in the amendment that allows incentives such as souvenirs to be given to those who actively participate in Buk-gu's tourism policies both online and offline, thereby encouraging residents' participation.
Councilor Gi explained that if the amendment passes, it will play a significant role in developing unique tourism content and establishing policies exclusive to Buk-gu. This aligns with the current efforts in Buk-gu to attract tourists nationwide by utilizing various local tourism resources such as hosting the Biennale and operating the Art Bus, creating a synergistic effect on Buk-gu tourism promotion.
Councilor Gi said, "To promote tourism revitalization, legal and institutional equipment that matches the times is necessary," adding, "I hope that the ordinance amendment will develop effective promotional means using SNS such as YouTube and Instagram, which will help activate Buk-gu tourism and attract tourists."
