Last Year’s 'Yeonmo' Wins in the 'Telenovela' Category
The drama ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ is challenging for the International Emmy Award trophy.
According to the broadcasting industry on the 10th, this drama, which ended last August, was submitted to the 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony held in New York, USA, on November 20. The International Emmy Awards is a TV program event established in 1973 to introduce outstanding overseas programs to American viewers. It is considered one of the world's top three broadcasting award ceremonies along with the Banff TV Festival in Canada and the Monte-Carlo TV Festival in Monaco. It is distinguished from the Primetime Emmy Awards, known as the Academy Awards of the broadcasting industry. Last year, the KBS drama 'Lovers of the Red Sky,' starring Park Eun-bin, was selected as the first Korean drama to win in the ‘Telenovela’ category.
‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ is a work depicting the story of Woo Young-woo, a genius lawyer with autism spectrum disorder. It raises the value of coexistence through the process of liberation from ridicule, contempt, and ostracism. It is produced by the domestic production company AStory, starring actors Park Eun-bin, Kang Tae-oh, and Kang Ki-young. It aired on the cable channel ENA and gained great popularity domestically, and was streamed worldwide through Netflix, ranking first in viewing time for seven consecutive weeks in the non-English drama category. It has also received remake offers from the United States, Japan, China, Turkey, the Philippines, Germany, and is currently discussing detailed matters.
