Shilla University and Sasang-gu Volunteer Center conducted the ‘Shilla Healthy Bibimbap DAY’ volunteer activity on the 9th in celebration of Parents' Day, targeting local senior citizens.
About 20 student volunteers from Shilla University and volunteers from Eomgwang Kitchen Volunteer Camp provided bibimbap to local elderly residents at the Jurye 2-dong Administrative Welfare Center.
The event was attended by several local figures, including Jo Byung-gil, Mayor of Sasang-gu, Yoon Sook-hee, Chairperson of Sasang-gu Council, Kim Chang-seok, Busan City Council member, and district council members.
Professor Jang Hee-jung, Director of Shilla University Social Service Center, said, “This volunteer activity not only helped build bonds between the local elderly and volunteers but also served as a good opportunity to share warmth between the university and local residents through a simple meal. We plan to continue various activities that contribute to the local community.”
Recently, Shilla University has been actively conducting volunteer activities targeting elderly generations, such as solitary seniors in the area, to enhance emotional stability among vulnerable groups and establish a safety net within the community.
Additionally, the university contributes to the local community through various volunteer activities every year, including ‘Shilla’s Moonlight’ (film screening volunteer activity), home visit volunteer activities for Lunar New Year and Chuseok, briquette sharing, and kimchi sharing volunteer activities.
