Submitted Reconciliation and No Punishment Request
Video Expands Showing All Victims' Complaints
The full story behind the recently viral online video titled 'Seongbuk-gu 07-born School Violence' has been revealed. The video shows teenage student A forcibly assaulting student B, and the severity of the violence sparked public outrage.
The video spread mainly on Instagram under the title "Please widely share the atrocities of the 07-born in Seongbuk-gu." In the footage, A grabs B's hair and drags her around like a suitcase, steps on her head, and kicks her head with enough force to make a kicking sound.

In the comments, there were rampant guesses such as "It's Seongbuk-gu" or "It's Nowon-gu," and some even claimed to have identified A's district, school, and real name, sharing this information.
However, on the 10th, Chosun Ilbo reported that B, the victim identified in the video, and her parents requested the police to punish not A but the person who filmed and distributed the video for defamation.
The incident occurred on March 26 in a parking lot of a building in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul. A and B are both first-year high school students of the same age, attending different schools, and are "friends of friends."
According to reports, the two argued over chat, exchanged insults including cursing each other's parents, and decided to meet at a specific location to fight in person.
They exchanged blows for the first few minutes, with B gradually being pushed back, after which A unilaterally assaulted B. The video posted online was edited to show only this part, not the entire fight.
The police arrived at the scene at the time, and guardians of both sides came to the police station for joint investigation. Based on CCTV footage and other evidence, both A and B were booked on charges of mutual assault.
During the police investigation, they reconciled, and both guardians submitted statements expressing no desire for punishment.
The case was being resolved amicably when the problematic video was released.
A police official stated, "The mutual assault case is expected to be closed soon, but both A and B are complaining of harm due to the distribution of the video," adding, "The local cyber investigation team will likely investigate the distributor and the distribution path of the 'school violence video.'"
