On the 8th, Naju City in Jeollanam-do announced that it will embark on discovering career and experiential learning sites to support out-of-school youth (aged 13) in achieving their dreams.
Naju City announced on the 8th that it will recruit experience providers year-round for the "Dream Achievement Learning Card," a campaign pledge of the 8th elected administration that universally offers career and experiential learning opportunities to first-year middle school students.
The Dream Achievement Learning Card is a project linked to the first-year middle school free semester system, providing youth with opportunities to experience various fields such as history, culture, and arts to assist in career planning.
This year, the city plans to issue a cash point card worth 100,000 KRW annually to 1,000 out-of-school youth aged 13 who are in the first year of middle school.
Through this, youth will be supported to freely choose specialized career experience sites according to their needs, preferences, and aptitudes.
The learning card can only be used at experience providers selected and registered through this recruitment process.
The target applicants are businesses (institutions) that, in cooperation with national and public institutions within Naju City, can offer experiences such as local history exploration, cultural and artistic content activities, or career and job experiences at 16 relocated public institutions in Bitgaram Innovation City.
Simple merchandise stores and amusement parks or operators of simple entertainment content are excluded from eligibility.
Applications must be submitted to the Education Policy Team of the Education Support Division at City Hall with the application documents posted in the announcement section on the city’s official website.
The city will evaluate the suitability, appropriateness, safety, sincerity, and accessibility of the submitted experience providers and approve and register them accordingly.
With a goal to implement the project in June, the city is currently promoting the establishment of an electronic voucher system and an official website.
Yoon Byung-tae, Mayor of Naju City, expressed expectations, saying, “The Dream Achievement Learning Card will serve as a catalyst not only for discovering career aptitudes but also for fostering youth’s love for their hometown through participation in Naju’s specialized programs and realizing their rightful access to history and culture.”
He added, “I hope this universal support without income distinction, which complements the limitations of existing voucher projects, will support healthy growth of youth and greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy by prioritizing experience providers within the city.”
