Songpa-gu Opens ‘Gayageum Children’s Park’ Created Together with Children in May

2.1 Billion KRW Raised through Private Capital and Social Welfare Organization Agreement

Selected as the 24th ‘Mom Comfortable Playground’ by Lotte Holdings, Receiving 2.1 Billion KRW in Private Funding

‘Children’s Design Team’ Composed of Ogeum Elementary Students Participated Directly in Playground Design

Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced the opening of Gayageum Children’s Park (Ogeum-dong 21) on May 4, a day before Children’s Day, transforming it into a unique playground filled with children’s imagination through the “Public-Private Partnership Children’s Playground Improvement Project.”

The district is gradually replacing old and worn playground and sports facilities to ensure children can play safely without any risk.

To secure funding for facility refurbishment, the district applied last September to the “Mom Comfortable Playground” project, a children’s playground improvement initiative jointly run by Lotte Holdings and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, and Gayageum Children’s Park was selected as the 24th site.

As a result, through a business agreement among Songpa-gu, Lotte Holdings, and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, the district received 2.1 billion KRW in private funding, which was promptly invested in improving the Gayageum Children’s Park facilities.

After about five months of design and construction, Gayageum Children’s Park was reborn as a playground space for children featuring a variety of unique play equipment. The district also replaced old exercise equipment and rest facilities to ensure children can use the park safely and comfortably.

In particular, the “Children’s Design Team,” composed of students from nearby Ogeum Elementary School, participated in the playground improvement project, adding special meaning.

The Children’s Design Team directly designed play facilities in the form of a dream “Play Castle,” including an Adventure Castle combination play structure, Viking spinning ride, and train rocking play equipment.

The district actively reflected children’s suggestions to transform Gayageum Children’s Park into a new playground full of innocence and dreams.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Thanks to the support of local companies and social organizations, a wonderful playground for our children has been created. I am grateful to the officials of Lotte Holdings and the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. We will continue to make efforts to create a safe environment where our precious children can be born and raised with peace of mind.”
