"Will Not Run Away and Will Accept Punishment"
Jeon Woo-won (27), the grandson of the late former President Jeon Du-hwan, who was handed over to the prosecution on charges of drug use, warned about the dangers of drugs.
On the 3rd, during a YouTube live broadcast, Jeon said, “I hope no one ever takes drugs lightly or approaches them casually because of my mistake,” adding, “I almost lost my life several times because of drugs. It is really dangerous. I regret and reflect on it.”
He also repeatedly apologized, saying, “I know drugs have become a big problem these days. I am sorry for causing trouble amid such circumstances.”
Recalling the situation when he used drugs, Jeon said, “The brain has very sensitive and delicate nerves,” and added, “When you drink a lot of alcohol, doesn’t it feel like your head is going to explode? Alcohol has volume, so there is a limit to how much you can drink, but drugs have the effect of drinking hundreds of bottles of soju in a palm-sized piece of paper.”
He also explained in detail the pain caused by drug use. Jeon said, “When I overdosed, my whole body swelled up and it felt like being stabbed with a knife. I couldn’t even breathe,” and added, “The nerves in my brain were completely destroyed, and the pain was amplified tens, hundreds, or thousands of times, which caused me to faint.” He also said, “Not only physical pain but psychological pain kept intensifying without stopping,” and “That’s why I kept screaming in the video. Thinking about it now gives me goosebumps and makes it hard to think clearly. It’s scary.”
He emphasized, “If you make a foolish mistake like me and try it once, your body will die. Once you touch drugs, you lose control and experience death very easily,” and urged, “Never do it.” He also added, “Since I actually committed an illegal act, I will accept all the punishments I deserve. I will not try to run away.”
Jeon was sent to the prosecution without detention on drug charges on the 28th of last month. On March 17, he turned on a YouTube live broadcast and explained about methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), a psychotropic drug known as ‘Ecstasy,’ and dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a hallucinogenic drug, and used them, with the act being broadcast live.
