Seoul City and Others Sign MOU for 'Children's Happiness Project'
Supporting Education at Local Child Centers to Bridge Digital Divide
"Leading Child Welfare with ICT Technology"
On the 3rd, KT announced that it signed an MOU with Seoul City, Hyundai Motor Company, Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation, and Save the Children to promote the ‘Children’s Happiness Project.’
The Seoul City Children’s Happiness Project is a master plan targeting the ‘Alpha Generation (born after 2010).’ The project was designed for a city capable of sustainable growth in an era of population decline. KT will support AI (artificial intelligence) coding, metaverse (KT Genieverse) education, and ‘digital cyberbullying safety and ethics education’ for children at 50 out of approximately 420 local children’s centers across Seoul.
The education will be conducted by ‘KT IT Supporters.’ This is KT’s representative social contribution program that donates IT capabilities and knowledge to bridge the digital divide, having provided education to reduce information gaps to over 3.75 million people so far. The plan is to expand the education to all 420 local children’s centers by 2026. Kim Moosung, Executive Director of KT’s ESG Management Office, said, “We will strive for changes in the lives of youth through public-private cooperation and take the lead in child welfare with warm ICT technology,” adding, “KT will continue to actively support solving issues faced by vulnerable groups and children.”
