Institute for Crime Policy Studies and Automobile Damage Compensation Promotion Agency 'Autonomous Driving Traffic Safety MOU'

The Institute of Police Policy and the Korea Transportation Safety Authority announced on the 3rd that they have signed a business agreement to ensure traffic safety in the era of autonomous driving.


They agreed to cooperate in promoting traffic safety policies such as the commercialization of Level 3 autonomous vehicles and establishing standards. According to the agreement, they will closely collaborate on research into expected types of autonomous vehicle accident investigations, standardization of investigation methods, support for accident-related education, and investigation of accident causes through data collection and analysis from autonomous driving recorders.


They stated that based on accumulated research and development and field experience, they expect to establish a system that can proactively respond to the new traffic environment.


Choi Jong-sang, Director of the Institute of Police Policy, said, "To actively respond to the rapidly changing traffic environment, we will actively promote the development of autonomous driving technology for policing and its application in the field."


Joo Hyun-jong, President of the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, said, "We will establish an institutional foundation to respond to autonomous driving accidents and carefully implement policies to protect victims."
