The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced guidelines regarding the death of an elementary school girl that occurred in Yeongdo on April 28.

On the 2nd, the Busan Police Agency stated that to prevent such incidents in the future, they will concentrate police forces on traffic safety vulnerable areas and times, and strengthen publicity to ensure safety.

The police will intensify crackdowns on violations of school zone traffic laws such as running red lights and speeding, and will apply regulations on illegal parking and stopping in child protection zones even during nighttime hours.

Additionally, in cooperation with district offices, illegal parking and stopping vehicles will be monitored before school start and end times, and the police will conduct year-round unmanned enforcement in school zones using camcorder equipment.

They will also strengthen business agreements with the Busan Office of Education to prevent safety accidents, improve facilities to secure safe school routes, and provide safety rule education for teachers, parents, and students during school commute times.

Furthermore, they plan to select school zones with high risk of traffic accidents, such as areas around construction sites and places with frequent large vehicle traffic.
